  • Jon Ramsey, Skidmore’s former dean of studies, who left a lasting mark on the Honors Forum and many programs at Skidmore, died of cancer at his home in Goleta, California, on March 9, 2019. He was 77.
  • Alice P. Reeves, instructor in English, died October 12, 1960.
  • Phyllis A. Roth, longtime professor of English and former dean of the faculty who served as both acting and interim president of , died March 25, 2012, in Saratoga Hospital, of complications from pancreatic cancer.
  • Dorothy W. Upton, Dorothy W. Upton, professor of English for 35 years, died January 10, 1963. She was 66.
  • Phillip West, professor emeritus of English, died March 20, 1997, in Saratoga Springs. He was 60.
  • Associate Professor Emeritus of English Alan Wheelock, a specialist in American literature who taught at for more than two decades, died Oct. 26, 2020, of complications from cancer. He was 84.
