Cost

Participants on ³¬¼¶µõÖÓÄÌin France Program are charged a program fee comparable to staying on campus for a semester. This fee covers tuition, housing and some meals, orientation, program–sponsored events, international medical insurance, and the administrative services of the University of Minnesota staff in Montpellier and the OCSE staff at the home campus in Saratoga Springs, NY. Students will be billed by Skidmore's Bursar's Office directly for their semester/year abroad.

The program fee includes:

  • - Tuition, up to 18 credits per semester
  • - Housing with a French host family, in a shared apartment or in a studio apartment.
    • - If livinng in a host family, students will receive all weekly meals with the family except for weekday lunches. Students will receive a stipend to help cover meals not provided by the host family.
    • - If living in an apartment, students will have access to a kitchen and can prepare their own meals. Studnets will receive a stipend to help cover food costs.
  • - All program-sponsored excursions and activities in Montpellier and its surroundings
  • - International health insurance
  • - Orientations at ³¬¼¶µõÖÓÄÌand in Montpellier
  • - Administrative support services of the ³¬¼¶µõÖÓÄÌstaff in Saratoga Springs and in Montpellier

  • Students are eligible to register for a free local transportation pass in Montpellier. 

The program fee does not cover:

  • - Passport and visa costs (approx. $655-$800 not including travel to/from the visa processing center)
  • - Round-trip travel to/from Montpellier
  • - Housing and meals before or after official program dates
  • - Books, supplies or any special course fees
  • - Personal expenses (approximately $2,000 -$3,000 for the semester)
  • - Optional excursions offered by University of Minnesota

STIPEND

All students participating on the ³¬¼¶µõÖÓÄÌin France program will receive a stipend. This stipend is intended to help cover the cost of meals.  The stipend will be disbursed by check before your departure to the France and the amount will vary depending on whether you live with a host family or in an apartment. The stipend for students living in a home-stay will be smaller since the home-stay families provide most meals during the week (except for weekday lunches).

FINANCIAL AID

³¬¼¶µõÖÓÄÌ students participating in this program are eligible to use some or all of their financial aid toward the costs of a ³¬¼¶µõÖÓÄÌprogram. You are urged to meet with a Financial Aid representative to understand the implications based on your chosen program. This consultation should take place as soon as possible to assist you in the program selection process.
